KOLKATA: KMC has identified a parcel of land in Shraddhananda Park for the construction of a capsule booster pumping station. The formal construction of the booster pumping station with a capacity to produce 0.5 million gallons of potable water every day will begin after a nod from the state government.
The proposed pumping station will cater to drinking water needs of residents of Surjya Sen Street, Mirzapur Street and parts of Amherst Street. This apart, residents staying around the Sealdah market will also benefit, said a KMC official. Apart from mitigating water scarcity in large areas under ward 48, the proposed water project will also be beneficial for solving the water crisis in parts of Bowbazar, said a KMC water supply department official.
