Rajinder Nagar bypoll: Choose AAP as only it can bring development, says Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal

On 2nd day of his roadshows, Kejriwal campaigned at Naraina Village
NEW DELHI: Continuing his series of roadshows in support of the Aam Aadmi Party candidate in the by-election for the Rajinder Nagar assembly seat, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal urged voters on Saturday to choose his party once again because only it could usher in development in the city.
Kejriwal drove past the packed streets of Naraina village atop his car, with candidate Durgesh Pathak by his side. Because of the crowds, the roadshow proceeded at a snail’s pace through the streets bedecked with blue and yellow balloons, festoons, and flags.
The 'Lage Raho Kejriwal' anthem, popularised during the 2020 Delhi assembly elections, could be heard in the background.
“On June 23, you have to give us victory by double the margin that we won by in 2020,” Kejriwal told the crowds. “We have worked tirelessly for seven years in Delhi, and this is reflected in the remarkable progress we have made in electricity and water supply.”
The AAP national convenor said that his party’s government had transformed schools and hospitals and opened many mohalla clinics. “We also ensured that women travelled safely by making bus rides free,” he said.
Kejriwal admitted that some work needed to be done. “We are fixing the mess created by our predecessors in the past 75 years,” he said. “We have been successful in fixing a lot of issues but some still need our attention. I’m sure you will keep supporting us.”
Saying that there was no point in voting for BJP because the government was being run by AAP, the CM said, “They are not interested in the development of the area. If you vote for them, they will only pick fights with me. If you want hatred to spread, vote for them. But if you want to see progress in your area, vote for us.”
The CM said he was guaranteeing the resolution of all pending problems in the Rajinder Nagar constituency. “I am aware of all of them,” he claimed, adding that the government would start with the issue of water supply in the area.
“Some problems of Rajinder Nagar are in the process of being resolved. I guarantee you that I will get all the work done personally,” he said. “I want to thank you for giving us such a huge support in the last election.”
Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor alleged that AAP was “in the habit of turning a blind eye to reality and denying the truth”. Kapoor claimed that there were protests at Naraina village because of the acute water shortage in the Rajinder Nagar constituency, particularly in Naraina village. “Instead of denying the truth, the AAP leaders should apologise to the people,” he said in a statement.
