Third straight day of 100+ Covid cases in Ahmedabad

AHMEDABAD: The city on Saturday recorded 128 new Covid cases, accounting for 55% of the state's daily tally of 234. It was the third day of 100+ daily cases for Ahmedabad, occurring after 111 days. The weekly comparison of Covid cases indicates a 73% rise in Ahmedabad (from 390 to 677) and 79% in Gujarat (from 718 to 1,287).
The other cases included 27 from Surat city, 22 from Vadodara city, 12 from Bhavnagar city, seven from Valsad, four each from Gandhinagar city, and Surat and Bharuch districts, three each from Rajkot and Jamnagar cities, and Vadodara district among others. Of the 33 districts, now only eight have zero active Covid cases. The number of patients on ventilators remained at six. Ahmedabad had 690 and Gujarat 1,261 active cases.
Gujarat in 24 hours vaccinated 4,983 persons for the first dose and 23,570 for the second. In all, 5.4 crore have been administered the first and 5.3 crore the second dose of Covid vaccines.
