India reports 12,899 new Covid-19 cases, 15 deaths in last 24 hours

NEW DELHI: India reported 12,899 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the country's total tally of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic reached 4,32,96,692.

According to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday morning, India's active cases shot up to 72,474 from 68,108 in the last 24 hours, even though the number of new cases came down from the recorded 13,216 the previous day.
The active cases now stand at 0.17 per cent of the total infections.

With the country reporting 15 deaths related to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, India's death toll climbed to 5,24,855 since the start of the pandemic in 2020, according to the ministry update.

India recorded 8,518 recoveries from coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients at 4,26,99,363, the government reported. India’s recovery rate stands at 98.62%.
India's daily positivity rate has been recorded at 2.89 per cent while the weekly positivity rate stands at 2.50 per cent.
The last 24 hours saw a total of 4,46,387 coronavirus tests being conducted across the country. India has so far conducted 85.78 crore cumulative tests.
The vaccination coverage in India has so far been administered to 196.14 crore, as per the government report updated on Sunday morning.
India's Covid-19 tally had crossed the one-crore mark in December, 2020. The country crossed the grim milestone of two crore in May, last year and three crore in June, 2021. The four crore mark was breached in January, this year.
