NEW DELHI: A web magazine’s wrong report on the health of Justice Mukeshkumar Rasikbhai Shah, a Supreme Court Judge, after he suffered a heart attack, led to a tumult in legal circles on Thursday prior to his shifting to Delhi from
Himachal Pradesh by air-ambulance.
The news organisation dropped the web story on Justice Shah after the SC warned it against wrong reporting. But by that time, concerned lawyers were making frenetic calls to the SC to inquire about the judge even as CJI N V Ramana. was busy coordinating with the government and Justice Shah’s family members for his smooth shifting to Delhi for immediate treatment.
The wrong news, even after being dropped from the web, continued to cause confusion. It virtually forced Justice Shah to send out a video message from his hospital bed to assure well wishers that he was stable and would be back to normal within a day or two.
Popular among lawyers for his demeanour and relief oriented approach, Justice Shah was appointed a judge of the SC on November 2, 2018.
He became a judge of Gujarat HC in March 2004 and was appointed Chief Justice of Patna HC on August 12, 2018 prior to his elevation to the SC.
