Hyderabad: 28-year-old raped after Jubilee Hills pub bash

HYDERABAD: Another rape after partying at a Jubilee Hills pub has jolted the city again. A 28-year-old woman working with a private firm was sexually assaulted at her residence by a friend, who invited her to a birthday gala at the upscale locality pub. And this comes less than a month after the gang rape of a 17-year-old in a parked SUV at Jubilee Hills.
Based on the survivor's complaint on Wednesday, Bachupally police registered a case against her friend under Sections 376 and 506 of IPC and took him into custody.
The horrific incident took place at the survivor's house in Pragathi Nagar, after they returned from the pub party, said police. Turns out, on Monday, the survivor was invited to her friend's birthday party at a Jubilee Hills pub, where she went after work.
After the party, at around 11.30pm, her friends offered to drop her home and she agreed. On reaching home, she invited her friends inside and they kept chatting till late night. At around 4.30 am on Tuesday, two of them left the place and the woman fell asleep at 5 am.
"At around 6.15 am, she felt stifled under pressure with a sharp pain in her private parts. She was jolted from sleep and saw a friend, who left some time ago, forcing himself upon her. Despite stubborn resistance, the accused raped her with a threat that she can't do anything to him," a police official from Bachupally said.
After the assault, the survivor went to the washroom and began calling her colleagues for help.
When the accused realised this, he left the place, the cops added.
