LUCKNOW: The number of Covid-19 cases continued to record a rise in
UP even as the test positivity rate remained relatively low.
On Thursday, with 1.04 lakh tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 413 fresh cases were reported from 48 districts.
More than half of these were detected in the three districts of Gautam Budh Nagar, Lucknow and Ghaziabad.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to remain vigilant in light of the rising cases in other states and emphasised on the need to increase the rate of vaccination, especially booster doses, of which only 33 lakh doses have been administered.
The fresh cases on Thursday were 100 more than what was reported a day earlier. On Thursday, against 413 fresh cases, 209 people were declared free from Covid.
Currently, there are 1,849 active cases in the state. Gautam Budh Nagar, due to its proximity to Delhi which is also recording a surge, recorded the highest number of fresh cases at 100.
Lucknow was second with 71 fresh cases, followed by Ghaziabad with 48. There are only seven out of 75 districts which have no active case of Covid-19.
