
A scuffle broke out between the police and Congress workers when the latter protested in front of the Governor's House on Thursday afternoon. The Congress workers were detained from outside the Governor's House, where they staged a protest in support of party leader Rahul Gandhi who is being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case.
"We are protesting against the continuous harassment of our leader Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi, who has been called by the ED for three consecutive days today," a protester said.
The police took the protesters to the police headquarters at Lalbazar.
Meanwhile, former Union minister and senior Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury on Thursday was seen grabbing the collar of a police officer during protests in Hyderabad over the same issue.
Several incidents of protests between Congress workers and the police have been reported from many parts of the country. Protests were held in Delhi, Jammu, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and other cities.
