COIMBATORE: BJP state president K Annamalai has nothing worthwhile to do other than raising baseless allegations against ministers,
Tamil Nadu electricity minister V Senthil Balaji said on Friday.
The minister was responding to Annamalai’s remark that Senthil Balaji would be the first person to be arrested when the government changes.
The minister dared Annamalai by saying that if the BJP wanted to take action on him, it could do it now itself.
Balaji was speaking in Coimbatore after inaugurating projects worth Rs 38 crore including widening of the Vadakovai-Ramanathapuram-Chettipalyam Road and development of the Valankulam bypass.
“Annamalai is a second-rate politician. I do not want to answer his lowly remarks and waste my time. He is an educated fool,” the minister said.
Elected representatives of the DMK are working for the welfare of the people whereas Annamalai was only into seeing publicity by making false allegations against ministers and the government, he said.
If the BJP gave importance to the development of the state, it should look out for the issues faced by people and bring them to the notice of the government to get them solved.
For the question that BJP claims that it was acting as the main opposition party in the state, the minister said it could not become the opposition party in Tamil Nadu. He asked how many candidates the party had fielded in the Coimbatore Corporation’s councillor election and how many of them had won. “They could not even win in one ward out of 100 wards. With just four MLAs, how can they claim that they are the opposition party,” he asked.
He said that all the candidates fielded by M K Stalin would win in the next parliamentary elections. The chief minister would be in a position to choose the next Prime Minister of the country, he said.
