GAYA: Sultry conditions continued to prevail in most parts of south
Bihar on Thursday. However, partly cloudy skies were witnessed at a few places. Monsoon current has been almost stagnant at Supaul in north-east Bihar from last two days, but the India Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted that it would cover some parts of Bihar over the next two to three days.
Heavy rainfall forecast has been issued for Jamui and Banka on Sunday. However, Patna, Gaya and Aurangabad are not in the forecast list. The intensity of rainfall is likely to increase on Saturday with rainfall prediction for
Patna and Gaya among other districts in south Bihar. A yellow alert for thunderstorm with lightning across the state has been issued for the next four days by the Patna Meteorological Centre.
Meanwhile, as the monsoon has entered Bihar, people of Patna, Gaya and other adjoining districts have got some relief from soaring temperature. Maximum temperature, which had touched 44 degrees celsius at Gaya, dropped to 37.6 on Thursday. In other districts of Magadh division too, the maximum temperature dropped by at least three to four notches. At 5.30pm on Thursday, maximum temperature in Patna, Aurangabad and Nawada was recorded 38.5, 37.4 and 39.7 degrees Celsius, respectively.
According to the weather bulletin issued by India Meteorological Department on Thursday, thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds with speed of 40-50 kmph is likely at isolated places in Bihar and Jharkhand on Friday.
