Mangaluru/Udupi: The Vittal police in Dakshina Kannada district have booked two persons on the charges of illegally stocking gelatin sticks in Yermethotti in Punacha village of Bantwal on Wednesday.
A team from the Vittal police station raided a location and found gelatin sticks packed in a plastic packet, placed in a bush near an empty house. The gelatin sticks were used at the stone quarry owned by Mohammed Kunhi and his assistant Ashok. The police have recovered explosives, including 510 gelatin sticks of an estimated value of Rs 6,120. A case has been registered at the Vittal police station.
Generator battery stolen from hospital
Miscreants stole a generator battery from a private hospital in Puttur. In a complaint, Dr Ajith K of Hitha multispeciality hospital said that when there was no power at 8.30pm on Wednesday, and the generator would not start, that they realised that the battery was stolen. CCTV camera footage shows miscreants stealing the battery from the hospital premise at 2.30 pm on Tuesday.
Man held for ganja consumption
The Bantwal Rural police have arrested a person for consuming ganja and creating public nuisance. The accused is Mohammed Jafar,34, from Bantwal taluk. On getting information , the police reached Sajipa Junction, and questioned the accused. He was for a medical examination.
Doctor accused of molesting patient
A doctor is accused of molesting a woman, who had been to a private clinic on Monday.
The 25-year-old woman had gone to the clinic for a follow-up. On the pretext of examining the patient, the doctor allegedly molested her. When the patient’s husband questioned the doctor, he did not reply. The case is being investigated at the Shirva police station.
