COIMBATORE: The Sulur police in Coimbatore district arrested three ganja peddlers on Thursday evening. The police seized two kg of ganja from the trio, identified as P Karthi, 24, an electrician in Sulur, S Sathyaraj, 32, from Trichy district and Bapi Khan, 33, of Margram village in
West Bengal.
Police said Sathyaraj was working as a welder at Kumarankottam area near Sulur and Bapi Khan was working in a private firm at Irugur in Coimbatore.
On Thursday evening, Sulur police inspector Mathaiyan and his team got a tip-off about ganja sales. A police team went to Senthil Murugan Garden area at Kumaran Kottam near Sulur and picked up Karthi for questioning. The police checked his room and found 1.5 kg of ganja and took him to the police station. He told the police that he had procured the contraband items from Sathyaraj.
The police team arrested Sathyaraj and the police seized a motorcycle from the duo.
Sathyaraj told the police that he procured the contraband from Kumar of Trichy.
The police team got another tip-off and arrested Bapi Khan and seized 500 grams of ganja from him. The police registered a case against the trio.
They were remanded in judicial custody.
Karthi was facing a ganja case at Sulur police station last year.
