CPI (M-L) to back gathbandhan candidate

Ranchi: In a possible setback to left parties’ unity, the CPI (M-L) on Thursday announced that it will support mahagathbandhan candidate Shilpa Neha Tirkey in the June 23 Mandar bypoll, instead of CPI (M) candidate Subhash Munda.
Speaking to media persons at the party office here, CPI (M-L) MLA Binod Singh said that the party chose to back the mahagathbandhan candidate to ensure the defeat of BJP candidate Gangotri Kujur. “It is not only in Jharkhand but in Tripura as well the party is backing those candidates that have a strong chance of defeating the BJP,” he added. tnn
