HYDERABAD: BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Thursday demanded that the TRS government release a white paper on the status of Aasara pensions in the state.
In a two-page letter to CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, Sanjay claimed that the TRS government had removed 13 lakh beneficiaries from the list between 2014 and 2022 in order to save Rs 3,000 crore per year. He asked the CM to explain why the number of beneficiaries were cut when the state announced that the eligibility criteria of age has been reduced to 57.
He stated that the TRS government must release pending dues of Rs 84,672 crore to all beneficiaries as promised in the TRS’ election manifesto in 2018. Bandi said that the government should make adequate budgetary allocations to meet the needs of new beneficiaries and issue guidelines for scrutinising their pension applications.
