Bihar: BJP leader kills self after shooting wife in Munger

PATNA: BJP leader from Munger Arun Yadav alias Bada Babu shot dead his wife before allegedly committing suicide by turning the gun on himself at his residence located at Lal Darwaza in the district on Thursday evening. The police have recovered two country-made pistols from the spot.
The incident took place around 5.30pm, following a dispute between husband and wife over family issues, Munger SDPO Nandjee Prasad said. The deceased has been identified as Arun (50), district general secretary of BJP and vice-president of BJP OBC Morcha, and his wife Preeti Kumari (45). The bodies of both have been recovered from their locked room on the second floor of their residence and sent to sadar hospital for postmortem.
Dhirendra Kumar Panday, SHO of Kotwali police station said hearing two back-to-back gunshots, the family members rushed to their room and knocked several times, but there was no response. "The family members immediately informed the police and in the presence of police, the locked room was opened. Both of them have bullet injury on their head while two empty pistols were lying on the floor beside the deceased," he said.
"Prima facie, it appears that the BJP leader has loaded single cartridge in each pistol. First he shoot his wife and then to himself. Arun’s father Kuleshwar Yadav in his statement said that the childless couple was having fight for long due to matrimonial reasons. On Wednesday, Preeti returned to Munger following a medical check-up at a hospital in Patna. Her husband wanted her to campaign for the upcoming municipality election on Thursday. As she was under a lot of stress due to medical reasons, she denied and they had a fight over the issue," the SHO said.
According to family members, in the elections to be held for Munger Municipal Corporation, his wife was a possible candidate for the post of mayor. The police have further investigating the case.
