LUDHIANA: The Punjab School Education Board Examination will conduct a special examination of mathematics for the vocational studies students of Class
XII who had failed to appear for this additional subject earlier because of a clash of dates with another test.
Ludhiana will be the only centre of examination for all the students of the state. This exclusive examination centre will be at the government senior secondary school of
Jawahar Nagar, controller of examinations Janak Raj Mehrok has claimed. The mathematics paper for the students who have opted this as an additional subject was not held during the regular board exams for the Class XII students. The test for others was held on May 21 and the additional subject group had to skip it because it clashed with an examination of the vocational stream.
The students had weighed their options and decided to appear for the main paper instead of the additional subject. One of those students said: “The vocational studies examination was on May 21 but I had also opted for mathematics as an additional subject. The timings of the two tests were the same, so I could not appear for only one, so out of the two, I appear for my main subject. The board could have schedule the other examination earlier or rectified the date sheet. Had it done so, there would have been no such hassle.”
Pankaj Kaushal, president of the Vocational Staff Association said: “It is a welcome decision of the
PSEB to hold the additional subject examinaiton for those who skipped but the heat may make it difficut for the students to walk down to Ludhiana from various villages. The board should be careful in framing the date sheet.”
On July 2, the boad will allow the candidates of Class X’s clashed tests to appear for one of those missed papers. The students who had missed the earlier examination due to Covid-19, sports tournaments, or chronic ailments will also be adjusted.
