Two kids killed in lightning strike in Gumla dist in Jharkhand

GUMLA: Two children died on way to school after they were hit by lightning at Dodang Pakartoli village in Gumla on Wednesday. They were identified as Sumit Oraon (11) and Sachin (9). An eyewitness said, “The duo took shelter under a tree when it began raining heavily. Lightning struck the tree, killing them on the spot.”
School headmaster in-charge Ranjit Kumar Singh rushed to the spot after learning about the incident and rushed the two children to a local community health centre (CHC), where the doctors declared them brought dead.
Ghaghra circle officer Pranav Rituraj told TOI, “The district administration will try to expedite the formalities to provide compensation of Rs 8 lakh to the family members of the deceased.”
