Citizens frustrated with alibis of “staff shortage” can hope for better services from
Pune Municipal Corporation (
PMC), as it has planned a recruitment drive.
Nearly 500 employees will be hired during the drive, which is expected to start in a fortnight. Staff members for health, fire-brigade and accounts departments will be recruited.
“The advertisement for the recruitment will be issued soon. A tie-up with union agency
IBPS has been made for the recruitment exam,” said PMC administrator
Vikram Kumar.
According to PMC officials, the written tests will be conducted across the state at different centres. The vacancies will be announced accordingly.
The data of the civic administration states that PMC is working with half of its total strength. Over 7,700 posts out of 16,000 are vacant.The civic administration has to fill up 4,700 posts through direct recruitment process, while 3,000 posts have to be filled through promotion. tnn
