Jaipur: Medical, engineering students and bank employees were amongst 11 persons arrested Wednesday after the crime branch caught them trying to buy narcotic substances from drug peddlers.
The police said that the 11 customers were arrested under preventive sections of the CrPC.
The police also arrested three drug peddlers, identified as Ramu Ram Jat (22), Nagina Sansi (35), and Bina (25).

“The three accused including two women were arrested under NDPS act,” said the official.
The police said that most of the 11 persons held from Mansarovar come from educated backgrounds, “We were conducting our searches at the drug peddlers’ hideout in the Mansarovar. We noticed several young persons were lining up one after the another to buy ganja from the two women,” said an official, adding that while Jat dealt as “wholesale,” dealer, the two women acted as suppliers.
“Nagina and Bina were hiding behind a car and selling ganja in small packets from Rs 800 to Rs 900 to students,” said the official.
The crime branch said that the particular spot in the Mansarovar area had become a major hotbed for the youngsters to take their supplies of regular ganja.
“The 11 accused included students of medicine, engineering, computer sciences, and civil service aspirants. The drug suppliers were targeting the group of youngsters because areas around Mansarovar have many hostels where students live alone,” said the official.
The city police said that efforts are now underway to track down other similar drug dens where students flock regularly to get their weekly supplies of narcotic substances.
“The interrogation with the two women is underway to find out their other possible connections in the city,” the official added.
