Karnataka Congress leader files plaint after driver flees with Rs 4 lakh

Senior Congress functionary and former chairperson of Karnataka State Spices Development Board (KSSDB) Shashikala Kavali has accused her driver C Kiran Kumar, 28, of fleeing with Rs 4 lakh.In her complaint to Sadashivanagar police, Kavali said she had given a cash bundle to Kiran for counting on June 5 at her apartment in Ashwathanagar, after which he disappeared. According to Kavali, the cash was meant for constructing a house in north Karnataka.

Karnataka CET begins on smooth note; many students find maths paper lengthy

Only 81% students appeared for the biology paper of Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) that kickstarted on Thursday morning, whereas maths saw 96% attendance later in the afternoon.Around 2. 2 lakh students had registered for the exam. While biology was easy, many students found the maths paper lengthy and were unable to finish it. Milind Chippalakatti, national head, knowledge management, Deeksha, said the questions were memory and concept-based, and not assertion reasoning or statement-based. There were no out-of-syllabus questions and an average student can score about 30-35 marks out of 60 in biology.

Karnataka: Man confesses to murder, tries to bribe victim’s son

A 58-year-old man allegedly murdered his friend over a petty issue and dumped the body in Arkavathy canal. He hushed up the matter for one and a half years. The incident came to light when he confessed to the victim’s son recently and offered money to not file a police case.Mallesh, a resident of Chikkamudavadi village in Kanakapura taluk, kicked Rudregowda from Kotekoppa village to death in November 2020, police said.Cops had found a man’s highly decomposed body near Arkavathy canal on December 1, 2020. They registered a case of unnatural death but were unable to identify him. They buried the body after taking photos. The case was unsolved till Mallesh confessed to the crime to Rudregowda’s son Prathap on June 11.
