2nd accused, who was set ablaze, dies: Ranchi

GUMLA: The second youth who was set ablaze for allegedly raping an 18-year-old in Gumla died of burn injuries at Rims in Ranchi on Wednesday.
Gumla SDPO Manish Chandra said, “The second rape accused died today.”
He along with his friend were set ablaze by an angry mob for allegedly raping the girl on pretext of dropping her home on June 8. One youth died a day after at Rims during treatment. Both the accused were admitted to the health facility on the night of the incident.
Police have so far arrested four out of the nine identified accused, including the mother of the rape survivor, and three other villagers in regard to the burning incident. FIR against 19 people, including 10 unknown, was lodged at Gumla Sadar police station for kidnapping, thrashing, attacking and setting two youths on fire. Police are still camping in the area to maintain law and order.
