PATNA: A day after four JD(U) functionaries considered close to Union minister RCP Singh were suspended from the party’s primary membership, state rural development minister Shrawan Kumar on Wednesday said disciplinary action would be taken against anyone found indulging in anti-party activities, irrespective of their position or proximity to any big party leader.
JD(U)’s state general secretaries Anil Kumar and Vipin Yadav and spokesperson Ajay Alok, along with Jitendra Neeraj were relieved of their posts and suspended from the party’s primary membership on Tuesday.
When asked if the four leaders were suspended because of their proximity to RCP, Shrawan said, “Anyone might be the supporters of Shrawan Kumar or any heavyweight leader. But if he/she is found indulged in the anti-party activities, disciplinary action would be taken against them. It is not for the first time that the party has taken disciplinary action against its functionaries.”
Shrawan further said, “A political party runs because of discipline. The parties lacking discipline face several issues within the organization. The action by the party’s state president against the four was taken after proper inquiries into their activities. There is a wave of happiness among the party workers over the decision.”
Reacting over the suspension of “perceived RCP supporters”, JD(U) parliamentary board chairman Upendra Kushwaha on Tuesday said, “This makes it very clear that nobody is above the organisation and the party’s discipline. Anybody who does not follow the party line will face the consequences.”
