The much-awaited results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination will be declared on Friday. The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE), which conducts the exam, will enable the students to check their results online at mahresult.nic.in or sscresult.mkcl.org or ssc.mahresults.org.in
from 1 pm on Friday.

A total of 16,38,964 candidates had registered for the SSC from across nine divisions of Maharashtra this year. The examinees included 8,89,506 boys and 7,49,458 girls. The exam was held from March 15 to April 4 in a traditional pen-paper format despite widespread students’ protests demanding its cancellation. Students had been hoping for a repeat of 2021 when the board exams were cancelled around March and April due to the rising Covid-19 cases. The results then were declared based on a formula which was a combination of internal assessment and past academic record of a student.

In Mumbai division alone, a total of 3,73,840 students registered for the SSC this year.

The results, last year, broke many records, including the longest website crash because of which many students could not check their results till late. The crash was later attributed to a technical glitch. With the highest ever pass percentage of 99.95 last year, the state also saw 957 students logging perfect scores.

However, the recently declared results for HSC, 2022 were a reality check after last year’s soaring marks. “Not only did the pass percentage see a considerable drop from last year, the Mumbai division ranked the lowest among all nine divisions of the state,” said a teacher from a city school adding that the curiosity levels are much higher this time for the SSC, 2022 results.

Extending her good wishes to the examinees through a personalised video message on Twitter, State School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said, “These exams were conducted very responsibly by the state board. The students, too, showed great determination in their studies and appeared for offline exams.”

Even as the number of Covid-19 cases had reduced considerably, the pandemic protocols prevailed during March-April when the exams were held. The MSBSHSE held the board exams with utmost care. While specific precautions were already in place, the state board had also implemented several student-friendly measures considering their anxiety levels. The students appeared for the exams from their respective schools, in a departure from the regular practice of a different exam centre. All were given additional time to complete their papers while the syllabus, too, was reduced.
