‘Not living in Noida’: Gaur City residents oppose AOA’s notice for pet registration

Noida: Residents of 16th Avenue in Gaur City have alleged that the society’s Apartment Owners’ Association (AOA) is harassing them to get their pet dogs registered with the Noida Authority even though they live in an area under the jurisdiction of the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA).
They also alleged on Wednesday that a notice by AOA also forbade them from taking their pet dogs into the basement. When asked, AOA members said the order was issued to maintain cleanliness as some pet owners litter the area.
“The AOA of 16th Avenue, in a circular, asked all dog parents to register on the pet app launched by the Noida Authority, which is impossible as our area’s governing body is the Greater Noida Authority that has not launched any such app. Also, the circular warns dog parents to take their pets to the basement, which is again a violation of the rights of pet owners. They cannot restrict the movement of dogs in any common areas according to law... though they can impose a fine as per Authority rules for littering,” said a complaint made by one of the residents to GNIDA CEO Surendra Singh over an e-mail.
Another resident of Gaur City, Rajive Pandey, said the AOA’s notice, dated June 13, was illegal and should be withdrawn.“Or else the dog parents will be forced to go to the AOA’s office and raise their objections with the officials.”
A GNIDA official confirmed that the authority had not launched an such app to register pets along the lines of the one launched by the Noida authority.
On Wednesday, the AOA denied the allegations made against it.
“The AOA is not against dog owners. Pet owners are required to register themselves with the local civic body. Basements are being used as littering areas, leading to unhygienic conditions and unbearable stink. Directives have been passed keeping the rights of other residents in mind. The AOA is also ready to help in the registration and vaccination process,” said Jitendra Singh, an AOA member and in charge of security.
