In the wake of the H1N1 pandemic, schools across the city have been preparing for the new academic year. At Victorious Kidss Educares (VKIDSS), school leaders and teachers reflected to create an action plan that helped them support swift student transition.
PUNE: At Victorious Kidss Educares (VKIDSS), school leaders and teachers reflected to create an action plan that helped them support swift student transition. Principal Saarada Ghosh of Victorious Kidss Educares said, "Our team of counsellors and specialist teachers are working collaboratively with our homeroom teachers in designing the activities that will promote voice, choice and ownership in learners. Despite the unique circumstances, where children have been challenged and placed to being tested because of the pandemic weare delighted to welcome our parent and student community with the prayers and hope that 2022-2023 we will evolve and find opportunities for growth."
The cchool leaders, teachers, counsellors and staff are doubly focusing on creating predictable routines and structures where students feel safe and emotionally secure and cheerful. This would help them engage in learning more constructively, said Ghosh.
The school will be providing students with dedicated passion project time and helping them identify their likings and ideas. Last year the school witnessed the demonstration of ownership of learning in UDAAN- beginning to fly high. Exposing learners to sustainable development goals and passion projects at the beginning of the year to help students develop curiosity, various approaches to learning and disposition as they inquire into their interests.
VKE also conducted a parent orientation and involved the parent community in the planning process at the beginning of the new academic year.

The school will be focusing on planning ice-breaking engagements to develop social and emotional skills at the beginning of the school year. It will help us create a classroom culture that will foster student agency and inquiry. "Our team of counsellors and specialist teachers are working collaboratively with our homeroom teachers in designing the activities that will promote voice, choice and ownership in learners. We all agreed that we can construct agency culture well if we allow learners to dive deeper into their passions and personal inquiries," added Ghosh.
