Govt officials with doubtful integrity under scanner

Gurgaon: Government officials with doubtful integrity will come under scrutiny as divisional commissioners have ordered deputy commissioners to prepare a list of such officials in their districts and keep an eye on their activities. The state government is preparing a list of officials who are facing corruption charges and those against whom vigilance has received complaints.
A district-level committee will monitor activities of such officials and regular reports will be shared with the government. The move is part of a bigger drive of the overnment against corrupt officials. In the past few months, the vigilance bureau has arrested several government officials, including an assistant excise commissioner and a districttown planner, for corruption.
“In every district, lists of officials with doubtful integrity are being prepared,” divisional commissioner Rajiv Ranjan said.
Along with this, the government is also preparing a list of “desirable persons” visiting government offices. The “undesirable persons” are defined as those who visit government offices regularly and take money from people for facilitating their work. “There are many people visit government offices to work as agents and take money from those who want to get their work expedited,” a senior government officer said, adding that such people misguide common man.
The divisional commissioner had held a meeting on Tuesday with deputy commissioners, DCPs and police officers of8 districts including Gurgaon and urged them to hold detailed probe into cases filed under Prevention of Corruption Act, plug loopholes and ensure speedy trials. It was decided to study previous corruption cases and find out technical flaws to avert shortcomings in cases that will be filed in future so that tainted officials don’t go scot-free.
