PATNA: The protesting veterinary interns and postgraduate students of Bihar Veterinary College (BVC) on Wednesday alleged that they were assaulted by police. They claimed that the police also disjointed their tent erected for staging the dharna on the college campus.
Donning aprons and holding placards, the veterinary students including girls are on indefinite strike for the last ten days, demanding hike in their stipend and fellowship allowance. They said the amount of Rs 60 per day being paid to them was much lower than that of a daily wage of a labourer and it needed revision. However, despite the use of force by police, the agitating veterinarians reiterated to continue their stir till amicable settlement of their demands was not reached.
