Drill at Sonar Fort to test quake readiness

Jaisalmer: The 870-year-old Sonar Fort, one of the oldest and very few living forts in the world that stands in an earthquake-prone area witnessed a mock drill on Wednesday to raise the level of preparedness for rescuing people in the event of a quake.
NDRF personnel along with staff of the district and police administration, civil defence and medical teams demonstrated the rescue operation in a simulated situation of disaster in presence of district collector Pratibha Singh, SP Bhanwar Singh Nathawat and other officers. The exercise was part of the Amrit Mahotsav.
There is only one way to go into and come out of Sonar Fort. NDRF team leader and assistant commandant Yogesh Meena led the drill and gave a live demonstration by using various equipment. TNN
