Bhubaneswar: Competitions add spice to Raja festivities in city

BHUBANESWAR: It was an evening of fun and excitement for residents of Debashram State Bank Colony at Kesura at the Times My City My Pride event, organized by The Times of India in association with Jugaad Jn and INIFD Bhubaneswar.
Children and women participated in a series of events organized on the occasion of Raja Sankranti. There was a contest to find Raja Queen while cooking and sit and draw competitions were also held. Around 200 people attended the event.
“Me and my friends attended the event and thoroughly enjoyed the dance, music and contest to find the Raja Queen and tasted podapitha during the cooking competition. My son took part in the sit and draw competition. We were looking for an opportunity to spend the evening with friends on Raja Sankranti, and this event offered us the chance,” said Swapna Rani Sahu, one of the residents.
There were two groups in the sit and draw competition. Divyasa Priyadarshini, Yuktha Dash and Sanvi Mohapatra were first, second and third in the first group (classes I to V). In the senior group (classes VI to X), Suriyani Sahu won the first prize, while Swanit Sahoo and Kalash Kunal Lenka were second and third, respectively.
The Raja Queen competition was the top draw at the event. Around 25 girls participated in the event. Renu Rao, Anushansa Smriti and Anita Sahoo took the first, second and third positions. In cooking, Kalpalata Dash, Sasmeera Swain and Nibedita Pradhan took the top prizes.
