Thiruvananthapuram: Health inspector
Sreekumaran C, who was recently arrested by the vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (
VACB) for accepting bribe to issue trade licence, has been placed under suspension, informed mayor
Arya Rajendran in the council meeting here on Tuesday.
VACB had arrested
Sreekumaran on June 7 after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a trader to issue a licence for a fruit and vegetable shop at Vazhuthacaud.
The mayor said that he has been placed under suspension pending inquiry since June 8.
The shopowner had approached the VACB unit
Thiruvananthapuram deputy police superintendent with the complaint against the health official.
VACB also raided the health official’s house and seized unaccounted money of Rs 2.86 lakh.
