Thiruvananthapuram: Health inspector Sreekumaran C, who was recently arrested by the vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (VACB) for accepting bribe to issue trade licence, has been placed under suspension, informed mayor Arya Rajendran in the council meeting here on Tuesday.
VACB had arrested Sreekumaran on June 7 after he was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1,000 from a trader to issue a licence for a fruit and vegetable shop at Vazhuthacaud.
The mayor said that he has been placed under suspension pending inquiry since June 8.
The shopowner had approached the VACB unit Thiruvananthapuram deputy police superintendent with the complaint against the health official.
