NAGPUR: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s (NMC) special purpose vehicle for executing
Smart City Project — Nagpur Smart and Sustainable City Development Corporation Limited (NSSCDCL) — plans to install new aesthetic LED traffic signals from Airport Square to LIC Square on Wardha Road, and between LIC Square and Pardi on Central Avenue (CA). Similar lights have been installed on the Worli Sea Face in Mumbai.
NSSCDCL board of directors headed by Sanjay Mukherjee and comprising municipal commissioner Radhakrishnan B gave approval to the project in a meeting on Tuesday. CEO of NSSCDCL Chinmay Gotmare and other directors were present.
The project is part of various works suggested by NMC to NSSCDCL for entire city, excluding Smart City Project area. But the project will touch the boundary of Smart City Project area in Pardi. As per initial plan, traffic signals will have colour LEDs, which will appear on traffic signals. Entire system will be automatic.
NSSCDCL board has also taken a decision to develop automated multi-level two-wheeler parking plazas at Anaj Market in Itwari, super market in Sitabuldi, and at Gandhisagar lake. Now, request for proposal of these two projects will be prepared.
NSSCDCL board approved work order to a private agency for installation and maintenance of 100 e-toilets at 50 locations across the city. The meeting granted Rs11.68 crore for this project.
Three existing libraries — Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Library at Laxmi Nagar, Kasturba Library at Sadar, and Kundanlal Gupta library at Imambada will be converted into Smart E-libraries.
Also, NSSDCL will procure and install 400 smart garbage bins at 200 locations. Police booths will also be installed at various locations in the city under Smart City Project.
An application will be developed to facilitate 49 types of services as per guidelines of Right to Services Act.
Public realm and public art will be developed at Lata Mangeshkar garden at Surya Nagar, and Sant Dyaneshwar Sanjivan Samadhi Udyan at Dattatray Nagar.
NSSCDCL board also took decision to develop bicycle stands at 75 spots across the city. Six schools will be selected and converted into Smart Schools.
