CHANDIGARH: While accusing the
Punjab government of diversion and derailing the probe into the killing of Sidhu Moose
Wala, Punjab Pradesh Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring asked the government and
Punjab Police to present the status report of the case.
“The probe is not moving and it appears that the Punjab police have given up and are dependent on the police of other states,” he said in a statement while underlining the need for a probe by some central agency. He pointed out that given the spread of the accused across different states, it will be in the fitness of things that the probe be handed over to some central agency only.
“Sixteen days have passed since the brutal assassination of Moose Wala and the Punjab police seem to be as clueless today as they were on May 29,” Warring pointed out.
The PCC president said the state police are yet to make any authoritative statement on the progress of the probe. “So far, we have been hearing that someone has been identified in Pune and nabbed from Gujarat, not by the Punjab police, but the Maharashtra police,” he said.
