GURUGRAM =: At 279, the city reported more than 250 new
Covid cases for the third consecutive day on Tuesday. The number of active cases in the city has now gone up to 1,119. Gurugram reported 260 and 294 new cases on Sunday and Monday, respectively.
The positivity rate remained at 7% on Tuesday, officials said. In just six days —June 9 to 14— the city added 1,527 new cases, whereas it had added 1,059 new cases between June 1 and 8.According to the health department, the rate of hospitalisation is low. Now, 15 patients are hospitalised, while others are in home isolation.
A total of 3,981 people too, k the test for Covid on Tuesday. Data from the health department shows that the city reported 100-150 new cases from June 1 to June 8, but since June 9 it has been witnessing more than 200 cases.
“We are setting up testing camps in crowded areas to identify the cases at the earliest. We are carrying out vaccination drives aggressively to get every eligible person with a booster dose,” said Dr Virender Yadav, the chief medical officer.
The city has added 2,586 cases to its caseload in June so far.
According to doctors, patients have mild symptoms at present — cold, cough, fever and fatigue. “Patients currently getting infected with Covid have three days fever and three days cough. Most of the patients are getting better at home. I have not seen any rise in hospitalisation,” said Dr Sushila Kataria, senior director, internal medicine, Medanta Hospital Gurugram .
She also said, “We are encouraging people to take the booster dose as the immunity from the vaccine weakens after nine months.”

Haryana on Tuesday reported 430 new cases. At present, the state has 1,821 active cases, of which 1,791 are in home isolation. The positivity rate is 4.3%.
