COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore city police on Wednesday appealed to motorists to maintain 40 kmph speed when they ride on flyovers.
The appeal comes a few days after a 28-year-old man, identified as M Prashanth, died when his
two-wheeler rammed the parapet of the newly opened
Trichy Road flyover. Prashanth was
overspeeding on the flyover on June 13 when the
accident happened.
A release from the city police said commissioner of police V Balakrishnan had instructed the officials to inspect the accident site to check the factors affecting the motorists.
Based on the directions, the police have placed barricades (which have reflective stickers on them) on the accident site of the Trichy Road flyover to prevent accidents.
