Uttar Pradesh to recruit 40,000 constables
UP Police will recruit 40,000 more constables in its various wings and will soon start the recruitment process. As per the plan, 34,000 constables will be absorbed in civil police and 6,000 in other units, including PAC, radio and as computer operators. A senior police officer said that the recruitment process coincides with the PM’s direction to officials of central departments and ministries to recruit 10 lakh people in the next 1.5 years.

Expedite booster shots, says CM as Covid surges
Despite low testing, Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a rise in number of Covid-19 cases. Even though the overall number of cases and positivity rate are still on the lower side, UP reported 318 fresh cases with just a little over 86,000 tests.
Officials said many people are testing at home and not uploading the results on the government website, indicating that the actual number of positive cases could be much higher.
During a meeting of Team-9 on Wednesday, the CM said that new cases are going up in other states and therefore UP will have to remain vigilant.

LPG security deposit hiked
If you are planning to get a new LPG connection, get ready to shell out 52% more as security deposit. According to IOCL, the security deposit for new connection for 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder will be Rs 2,200 instead of Rs 1,450 charged earlier.
The new rates will be applicable from Thursday.
Similarly, Rs 1,150 will be charged as security deposit in place of Rs 800 for a 5kg cylinder.For gas cylinder regulator, the consumer will now have to pay Rs 250 against the current Rs 150. Security deposit and fee for gas cylinder regulator are refundable.

There are 24 districts that UP Police has identified as hyper-sensitive in terms of law and order situation ahead of Friday prayers.
The list includes Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Agra, Mau, Sambhal, Meerut, Ambedkarnagar, Bahraich, Ayodhya, Gonda and Saharanpur, among others. Companies of RAF and PAC have been dispatched for these districts to maintain law & order during and after Friday prayers.
