Apple's new MacBook Pro 13 with M2 will be available to order in India and globally on June 17. In a blog post, the company says the laptop will start arriving to customers worldwide on June 24. The laptop comes in two colour options, Silver and Space Grey, and the price starts at Rs 1,29,900. It debuted alongside the M2 SoC-powered MacBook Air 13, which also gets two variants. However, the new Air model comes in four colours.
The MacBook Pro 13 with M2's price in India starts at Rs 1,29,900 for the 256GB SSD storage variant. There's an option with 512GB SSD storage that costs 1,49,900. The RAM configuration on both variants remains the same at 8GB RAM.
Apple will also offer a no-cost EMI payment option for up to six months with "qualifying credit" cards. The MacBook Pro 13 with M2 will be available for Rs 1,19,900 to 'education' customers. The company will also offer an Apple Trade-In scheme, where customers can trade-in their current computer and get credit for a new Mac. Customers can enhance the warranty of the device by availing AppleCare+ for Mac.
Apple is yet to reveal the exact sale date of the MacBook Pro 13 with M2 chip for the Indian market.
While the new MacBook Air 13 with M2 gets a refreshed design and features, the MacBook 13 Pro with M2 is almost identical to the MacBook 13 Pro with M1 from 2020. The laptop continues to feature a notch-less display. However, the chipset onboard comes with a faster 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU.
Apple has explained that "playing graphics-intensive games like Baldur's Gate 3 is also nearly 40 percent faster than the previous 13-inch MacBook Pro and up to 3.3x faster for customers upgrading from a model without Apple silicon." It also gets a single fan for better heat dissipation.
The new MacBook Pro model also features an active cooling system, up to 24GB of unified memory, and longer battery life with up to 20 hours of video playback. It will continue to include two USB 4 ports, and one of the ports can be used for charging. That means the new MacBook 13 Pro with M2 does not get the MagSafe charging that MacBook Air 13 with M2 offers. The current Pro model will also continue to feature a touch bar above the keyboard.
Other key features include an HD webcam, fingerprint scanner, Wi-Fi 6, and Dolby-enabled speakers,
