In the other games, record champions Mumbai, who are back to their ruthless best, face a high on confidence Uttar Pradesh in what promises to be an intriguing semifinal of the Ranji Trophy, beginning on Tuesday.

Day 1 Stumps!
Madhya Pradesh finish at 271/6. An impressive hundred from Himanshu Mantri (134* off 280). The opener added 123 runs for the fifth wicket with Akshat Raghuvanshi (63 off 81), before the latter was picked up by Akash Deep who finished the day with two wickets. Two wickets for Mukesh Kumar as well with Shahbaz Ahmed and Pradipta Pramanik picking up a scalp each for Bengal.

Mumbai finish at 260/5. Post a tough start, the most decorated team in Ranji Trophy history got back into the game courtesy of Yashasvi Jaiswal (100) and Hardik Tamore (51). Sarfaraz Khan also looked good during his 40 off 52 deliveries. For Uttar Pradesh, Yash Dayal was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 17-4-35-2. Couple of wickets for Karan Sharma as well, including the all important one of Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The 24-year old has brought up some much needed runs for Mumbai late in the day, even after they lost Yashasvi Jaiswal. After 86 overs, the score is 259/5.

Hardik Tamore with fourth boundary off the day. Has also hit a four and is set in the middle at 44 off 66 deliveries. Shams Mulani (7* off 17) alongside him. Mumbai are 250/5 after 84 overs.

Big wicket this for Uttar Pradesh. The southpaw was looking in fine touch. Half of Mumbai lineup back in the pavilion now and UP will now look to have a big end of the day finish. Mumbai are 234/5 after 80 overs.
HUNDRED FOR YASHASVI JAISWAL!
Second first-class hundred for the 20-year old, two off two Ranji Trophy knockout innings for him now. Following up on his second innings 103 against Uttarakhand, Jaiswal has shouldered Mumbai in this first innings against Uttar Pradesh. A hundred off 226 deliveries. Mumbai are 232/4 after 79 overs.

Yashashvi Jaiswal has been at it for Mumbai on Day 1. The southpaw brings up the 200 for the most successful team in Ranji Trophy history with a boundary. Hits another one the next delivery off Shivam Mavi and moves on to 92 off 219 deliveries. Mumbai are 206/4 after 75 overs.
Akash Deep strikes, Akshat Raghuwanshi dismissed for 63 off 81!
The 25-year old returns back into attack and breaks the 123-run partnership to give Bengal their fifth and his first wicket of the innings. Madhya Pradesh are 220/5 after 69 overs.
HUNDRED FOR HIMANSHU MANTRI! Maiden first class century for the 28-year old. Left a lot of deliveries early on in his innings and has been patient during his 211-ball century. Madhya Pradesh are 212/4 after 68 overs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal (60 not out) has backed up his maiden century with another fifty-plus score. It has been an uncharacteristic knock from the southpaw. He has faced 165 balls so far. Meanwhile, Sarfaraz Khan (29 not out) is batting more freely. Mumbai - 142/3
