Four arrested after man, woman paraded naked in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon

Four persons including the man’s wife have been arrested in connection with the incident that took place at a village under Urindabeda police station limits on June 11

Raipur: A couple was paraded naked for falling in love in a tribal dominated village of highly disturbed naxal hit Kondagaon district in Chhattisgarh.

After the video clip of the incident went viral on social media, the police sprung into action. It has arrested four people in the case including the wife of the victim, Kondagaon Police on Monday said.

According to the sources, the married guy who had fallen in love with his girlfriend has been in a relationship with her for a few months. He used to come and spend time with her in the village.

The jilted wife got aware about the extra-marital affair, got a tip off about the location of both the lovers, and she raided the house with her supporters. She caught her husband red handed indulging in an intimate relationship with his fiancée, the sources said.

The lady running in indignation and rage, dragged the duo to the village road, the couple hands were tied, first they were mercilessly beaten and to teach lesson, both were paraded naked on the roads of the village, the entire village watched the whole incident as mere spectators. Some of the guys also filmed the whole incident and put it on social media, one local reporter informed.

Just after the video clip carrying barbaric, inhumane, offensive acts went viral, police swung into action.

Superintendent of Police Kondagaon Divyang Patel told the media that he took suo moto cognizance of the incident and sent a police team to the village Panchayat Badgai, Farsagaon block.

The offence occurred in Badgaon Police station limits on Saturday, and till this time four accused were arrested including the wife of the victim, Sarpanch Lachhu and others.

Police registered the offence under section 354, 354 B, 509 A,B and other relevant sections of IPC. Manhunt is still on, the officer said.

After the incident, the community tribal leaders objected strongly over the incident. Manku Ram Manjhi said, as a community leader we have inspected the village and probed the case and found the action taken on the village level was shameful. This should not be the way to tackle the situation, we punish the people involved in the incident on community level, Manjhi said.

The Khap virus silently entered the tribal belts and started infecting our psyche and our culture, we are in agony and aghast at the incident, said another indigenous community leader. We have to rethink over it.
