NOIDA: Traffic police on Monday opened a booth for enforcement and awareness of traffic guidelines outside
Botanical Garden metro station. The aim is to help streamline auto services and decongest the area. The booth is developed by the
Noida Authority and is the first of its kind with basic amenities like drinking water, restroom, and audio-visual facilities.
The deputy commissioner of police (
DCP) Ganesh Prasad Saha said Botanical Garden is one of the busiest places in Noida. “Many people use the metro station and then take autos or other public transport for commuting. With no designated parking lot for autos, drivers usually wait along roads blocking the carriageway, often leading to congestion. A few days ago, we launched a drive to ensure the autos stand in queues outside the station. Now, the traffic police personnel will be stationed at the booth and they will regulate traffic and take swift actions on complaints received from commuters,” he said.
A public address system will be installed at the booth, helping make announcements for traffic regulation.
“Earlier, most commuters did not know whom to talk to if they faced problems like overcharging by auto drivers, illegal parking, encroachment of roads, or if they forgot their valuables in autos/buses. The booth will help people in resolving all such problems,” said traffic inspector
Ram Singh.
The booth also has audio-visual facilities for awareness programmes for commuters and drivers of public transport facilities. Police said since the temperature is on the rise, commuters, while waiting for autos or buses, can also take shelter in the booth.
