AHMEDABAD: A 40-year-old woman from the Chandlodia area in Gujarat's Ahmedabad late on Monday night stabbed her 45-year-old husband to death over a dispute of protecting their 11-year-old son when he was thrashing the kid over an issue of disconnected TV channels.
Vijay Yadav, who worked as a driver in AMTS, was thrashing his son
Manjit alleging that he had disconnected the TV channels and began twisting his arms threatening to break it.
At that time, Vijay’s wife
Deepmala Yadav intervened, pushed her husband away and then stabbed on the left side of his chest, leading to his death.
According to an
FIR filed with Sola police, Vijay was suspended from his job for around 15 days after which he used to keep fighting with his family members daily over trivial issues.
“At around 7pm on Monday, Vijay returned to his home from somewhere. He told his family members that he would not eat anything and told the family members that he would watch TV all night,” said an officer of Sola police.
After this, his family members went to the first floor of their house in Jayaditipark society in Chandlodia and Vijay began watching the TV, he said.
At around 9.30pm on Monday, Vijay came to his family members and began screaming at them saying that they had disconnected the TV channels.
“Vijay’s son Manjit told him that he would look into the issue and began checking the TV remote on the ground floor of the house. But rather then allowing him to check the TV, Vijay began beating his son badly,” said the officer.
He began threatening to break his hand and began twisting his arm due to which Manjit began screaming in pain, added the officer.
Seeing her kid in pain,
Deeepmala intervened and tried to push Vijay away from Manjit. But Vijay overpowered her also and continued to twist Manjit’s arm. Suddenly, Deepmala found a knife, she pushed Vijay again and then stabbed him multiple times.
Vijay fell on the floor and went unconscious.
His elder daughter Hetvi, 17, called up her uncle and narrated the incident.
When Vijay’s elder brother Rajesh reached his house, he found Vijay lying in a pool of blood.
Rajesh took him to Civil hospital in Sola where doctors declared Vijay dead.
Sola police arrested Deepmala and booked her under the charge of murder.
