PATNA: Two Chinese nationals were arrested while crossing the India-Nepal border in Sitamarhi district after spending a fortnight in Delhi-NCR illegally, the Sashastra Seema Bal (
SSB) said on Monday.
The officials said the duo, allegedly involved in a financial fraud, illegally sneaked into Indian territory without valid documents and were apprehended, while leaving the country.
During night patrolling by the 51 Battalion of SSB, the force apprehended the duo around 7.45 pm on Sunday, when they tried to flee to Nepal at Bhithamore border outpost, which comes under Sursand police station area of the district. The Chinese nationals have been identified as Lo Lung (28) a resident of Tongshan County and
Yung Hai Lung (34), a resident of Wuhan, Hubei province in China.
According to the SSB personnel, the arrested accused were handed over by SSB to Sursand police station for further interrogation. A complaint has also been registered under relevant sections for financial fraud and illegal entry, based on the statement of SSB personnel
Murari Kumar. They were produced at the local court and sent to judicial custody.
Two passports, one black cloth, mobile phones, mobile power banks, half a dozen Indian sims of different companies, $ 103 in US currency, Rs 500 in Indian currency,
ATM cards, cigarette packet, medicine and boarding pass of economy class were recovered from them. The police administration has also alerted the ministry of external affairs and IB.
