BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Monday decided to take stern action against teachers who allegedly submitted fake documents for their appointment.

The school and mass education department will verify certificates and documents of all teachers appointed in the last three years. The department will write to universities outside the state if any teachers have submitted certificates from these institutions. If required, officers from Odisha will visit these universities to enquire into the matter. Criminal action will also be initiated against teachers who have submitted fake certificates during appointment and salary will be recovered from them. All these decisions were taken at a high-level meeting chaired by revenue divisional commissioner P K Jena.
