Thane reports over 600 new COVID-19 cases
With the addition of 616 new cases of coronavirus, the infection count in Thane district of Maharashtra has gone up to 7,14,269, an official said on Monday.These new cases were recorded on Sunday, he said. The district has been reporting more than 500 new cases of the viral infection for last four days.There was no report of any fresh fatality and the death toll in the district remained unchanged at 11,895. The COVID-19 mortality rate in Thane is 1.67 per cent, the official said.

Oil prices slipped more than $2 on Monday as a flare-up in COVID-19 cases in Beijing quelled hopes for a rapid pick-up in China's fuel demand, while worries about global inflation and economic growth further depressed the market. Brent crude futures fell $2.06, or 1.7%, to $119.95 a barrel by 0033 GMT while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was at $118.54 a barrel, down $2.13, or 1.8%.

Brazilian police said on Sunday search teams have discovered belongings of missing British journalist Dom Phillips and indigenous expert Bruno Pereira who went missing in the Amazon a week ago. A police statement said clothing belonging to Pereira had been found, including a health identification card in his name, and a backpack with clothes belonging to Phillips, and the boots of both men.
