Stir ends as govt assures ₹40L, job to lawyer’s kin

Jaipur: The protesters, including the family of the deceased lawyer Hansraj Mavaliya who had self-immolated, ended their agitation in Khandela at 12.30 am on Sunday after the government accepted their demands. The family has been promised a compensation of Rs 40 lakh for the lawyer’s family, Rs 5 lakh for another lawyer who was injured and a government job for the kin of the deceased.
On Sunday, the SDM and the SHO of Khandela were suspended. The funeral of the lawyer was done after the post mortem.
“Most of their demands were met. I have also issued orders for the suspension of Ghasi Ram Meena, the SHO, Khandela as demanded by the protestors. Also, a judicial probe into the matter would be ordered and a compensation of Rs 40 lakh lawyer's family was announced. The post-mortem was done in the morning and later the funeral of the deceased was conducted,” said Kunwar Rastradeep, superintendent of police, Sikar.
Likewise, Rakesh Kumar, the SDM Khandela was also suspended by the state government.
The lawyers across the state had been protesting against the incident while the family members with local leaders including Amraram, former MLA and others were on a sit in dharna since Friday.
In the matter, two counter FIRs have already been lodged, which includes an FIR by the family of deceased under section 306 for alleged abetment of suicide against Rakesh Kumar SDM, Khandela and Ghasi Ram Meena, SHO, Khanela and another FIR by the SDM Khandela against the deceased for attempt to murder under section 307 of IPC.
Hansraj Mavaliya, accusing the SDM and local authorities of corruption, had immolated himself on Thursday and later succumbed to burn injuries when he was on the way to Jaipur’s SMS Hospital.
