HYDERABAD: Most government schools across the state are set to reopen on Monday, after summer break, putting to rest concerns about an increase in Covid-19 cases delaying classes.
Education minister
Sabitha Indra Reddy clarified that classes will resume as scheduled.
“The classes will start as per plan. We urge all parents to send their children to school. All arrangements have been made. We are additionally requesting all public representatives to visit the schools in their jurisdiction and join the department in welcoming the children,” she said.
This will be the first time in two years that the academic session will open on time as per schedule since the pandemic hit in 2020. An estimated 70,690 students will be fresh admissions to school from Monday as per the latest
Badi Bata enrollment figures. Apart from this, 22 lakh existing students, four lakh students from Gurukul schools and two lakh students from
Kasturba Gandhi schools will start their new session from June 13.
The academic year holds great significance as it would be the first year for state government schools to transition into English medium. “In order to make the transition for students into English medium easier, we will be holding a
bridge course for the first month by the teachers. This will ensure they get accustomed to English mode of instruction. Bilingual books will also be provided along with free uniforms and mid-day meals,” said Reddy.
On the issue of high fees by private schools, the minister said that they were aware of the situation and were looking into legal feasibility of the same.
