BHIWANDI: A day after a mob of the Muslim community assaulted a youth

Bhiwandi police now have decided to take action.
The mob in large numbers on Sunday gathered outside the residence of Ansari situated on Bhiwandi-Thane road asking him to apologise for supporting Sharma.
The mob forced him to come out of his house and when the youth pleaded with folded hands the crowd refused to relent. He was forced to read the Kalma (Islamic phrases). As he proceeded to recite the verses, a man slapped him on his face while others continued to threaten him.
Looking at the tense situation, the police on Sunday late evening had arrested Ansari for his derogatory statement.
Meanwhile, after the video of the mob forcing youth to apologise had gone viral on social media, the police decided to act against the mob.
Yogesh Chavan, deputy commissioner of police, Zone 2 of Thane police said, “We have arrested youth who made some controversial statement but we have also decided to take action against mob took law in hand to punish youth”.
Chavan said, “If anybody says anything wrong or makes any derogatory remarks then people should approach the police and should not take the law into hand or else such people will be punished”.
The police have also deployed heavy security outside Ansari to avoid untoward incidents.
