BENGALURU: Indian Space Research Organisation (
Isro) on Monday said it has joined the annual
NASA space apps challenge this year. The Isro-NASA space apps challenge 2022 is scheduled for October 1 and 2.
"
NASA international space app challenge is the largest annual global hackathon that began in 2012. Space apps is managed by the
Earth science division, science mission directorate, at NASA. The two-day event inspires collaboration, creativity and critical thinking that fosters interest in Earth and space science and exploration," an Isro statement read.
The goal of the event, the space agency said, was to raise awareness about the NASA’s and Isro's open data, foster interest in earth and space science technology, and encourage and nurture the interest in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths) in the young generation.
"Isro is inviting coders, entrepreneurs, scientists, designers, storytellers, makers, builders, artists and technologists to participate in the eleventh annual hackathon. During the hackathon, participants from around the world will create teams and use Earth observation data to develop solutions to issues our world is facing," Isro said.
