Jetpur AAP chief held for extortion

Rajkot: Jetpur city president of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was arrested for allegedly trying to extort Rs 20 lakh from a factory owner engaged in dyeing and printing of saris.
Police arrested Bhavesh Ginoya following a complaint lodged by Ramnik Butani, owner of Avsar Dyeing and Printing Works. Butani alleged that Ginoya had submitted an application to GPCB, PGVCL and mamlatdar offices seeking closure of the unit over pollution.
When Butani went to meet Ginoya, the latter allegedly told him that he had incurred expenditure of Rs 1.25 lakh on lawyers' fees and asked the latter to meet a man named Idris. Idris, it is alleged, demanded Rs 20 lakh from Butani on Ginoya's behalf.
When Butani said he did not have the money, Ginoya allegedly threatened to kill him. Butani had two units, one of which was issued closure notice by GPCB due to pollution issues a few years ago. Jetpur police arrested Ginoya and booked him for extortion and other IPC sections.
