Tamil Nadu: 60-year-old killed as scooty, bike collide near Vandalur

A 60-year-old woman riding on her scooty died after two youths racing on a bike hit her from behind on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Vandalur on Sunday morning.
CHENNAI: A 60-year-old woman riding on her scooty died after two youths racing on a bike hit her from behind on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) near Vandalur on Sunday morning.
The victim, police said, was on her way seeking directions towards Tambaram when the accident took place.
The youth Vishwa (25) of Mudichur, who was riding the bike, suffered a fracture and was hospitalized. The identity of the woman is yet to be established. She was found possessing a canteen card from the Tamil Nadu police in her bag. The woman suffered severe injuries on her head and died on the spot. Her body has been sent for a postmortem to Chromepet government hospital.
Eyewitness claimed that there were few other youths on different hi-end bikes at the accident spot.
The motorists claim that bike racing is rampant on ORR mainly during weekends, posing a threat to the motorists and police have turned a blind eye towards this menace.
