PUNE: The
Hadapsar police on Friday booked a building contractor and others on the charge of causing the death of a 53-year-old man due to negligence after an iron plate fell on his head at an under-construction site in
Phursungi on June 6.
The police have identified the deceased as
Sachin Pawar from Phursungi.
Assistant inspector
Sachin Thorat on Saturday said, “The contractor had undertaken the project to construct a two-storied building on a 2,000sqft land.”
“Pawar, a labourer, was on way to collect fodder for feeding buffaloes. He was passing via the construction site when an iron plate affixed for supporting the second floor pillar loosened and collapsed,” the officer added.
“The plate fell on Pawar’s head. The construction workers present at the time rushed him to a nearby private hospital. The victim succumbed to multiple head injuries on Thursday. We had initially registered a complaint relating to accidental death,” he said.
